Nairobi City County Executive Innovation and Digital Economy, Mike Gumo has said that there should be a heightened focus on the digitization of systems in the private sector and government entities in order to embrace global trends.
The County Executive was speaking in Mombasa during the Nation Media Group’s third digital summit.
Said County Executive Gumo, “I want to commend the Nation Media Group for organizing a forum which will seek to deepen the use of technology by the private sector and government entities as we strive to deliver to our respective target audiences and for bringing together varied stakeholders and respected authorities in the digital world to present and discuss ideas, innovations, discoveries and perspectives relating to the prevailing and emerging needs of an increasingly digitized world.
Governor Sakaja’s manifesto has put in place a robust ICT road map that will ensure the enhancement of digital transformation for Nairobi city. This will lead to a huge shift in how Nairobi City County Government will operate.”

United States Ambassador to Kenya Margaret “Meg” Whitman who has vast experience in the digital space, given that she previously served as CEO of tech giants eBay and Hewlett-Packard (HP) and ICT Cabinet Secretary Mr. Eliud Owalo who is tasked with leading the government’s bid to shift some 5,000 services online also attended and addressed conference participants during the opening session.
The forum, the third to be organized by the Nation Media Group, comes at a time when digitizing operations have become priceless for any firm keen to remain in business and thrive in the current challenging environment. will also offer delegates an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the critical role of ensuring robust digital systems that have the required capacity to absorb the ever-changing trends and challenges at the workplace.
Nairobi County Chief Officer, Innovation and Digital Economy, Mr. Victor Otieno is scheduled to lead a panel discussion dubbed “Creating a strong digital infrastructure.”
