NAIROBI (GPS), OCTOBER 2, 2021
The Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders has lauded acting Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu for her exemplary fostering of peace and love in the capital city.
Council chairman Linus Kathera said despite many challenges in the capital city, Kananu has greatly demonstrated what leaders should do.
The officials were speaking after paying courtesy call to the Governor’s office on Friday evening.
Katheka said for the nation to move forward, leaders should unite people giving an example of Nairobi.
“The good working relations you have demonstrated in Nairobi means a lot not only to Nairobians but to the whole country,” he said.
Katheka added that since the promulgation of the new constitution and inception of devolution, many Kenyans, especially Nairobians, are happy.
“This is the real demonstration of devolution,” he added.
Quoting English philosopher John Locke, Josphat Murangiri, the Council’s Secretary General and in-charge of operations, stressed that ‘to love truth for truth’s sake is the principal part of human perfection in this world, and the seed-plot of all other virtues’.
He said God blesses leaders who demonstrate peace and love.
On the other hand, Kananu thanked the Council members for their visit saying that her aim is to see Nairobians happy by providing for them quality and timely services.
“My wish is to see no one lives in squalor. That’s why we’re greatly into devolution. Through God’s guidance we are going far,” she said.
The Njuri Ncheke council member Washington Muthamia lauded Kananu for good working relationship with other state organs including Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), amongst others.
“This is teamwork and the good fruits are seen,” he said.
