Markets and Trade senior management reviews progress, sets priorities

The Markets and Trade Sub-Sector today held a senior management meeting to review ongoing programmes and assess performance targets aimed at strengthening service delivery across the departments.

The meeting was chaired by County Chief Officer for Markets and Trade, Ms. Jane Wangui, and attended by directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, procurement officer, Human Resource and Administrative team, trade officers and other senior officers recently recruited to the Markets Department. It was held at the Cooperative Boardroom, Nyayo House.

Directors presented progress reports on programmes and initiatives being implemented across the Sub-Sector. The presentations highlighted key achievements, challenges encountered and strategies being adopted to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery to Traders and Nairobians.

A review of Performance Contracting targets and achievements for the third and fourth quarters was undertaken. Directors assessed progress against set targets and explored ways to improve performance as well as budget absorption to ensure the Sub-Sector meets its objectives for the financial year.
Mktstrade3 1In addition, the Assistant Director, Administrative Services, took the team through human resource and administrative matters.

Department heads further outlined activities planned for the coming week, detailing priority assignments and coordination mechanisms to facilitate smooth execution.

Ms. Wangũi pointed out that the subsector’s immediate priority is the ongoing Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) on revenue collection and enforcement. She stated that officers from the subsector have joined the Revenue Administration team in a coordinated effort to enhance revenue mobilization and strengthen compliance across the county.

She called for teamwork, accountability and continuous tracking of departmental initiatives to advance Governor Johnson Sakaja’s agenda of promoting business growth, market development, and economic opportunities for Nairobi residents

The Chief Officer reminded the team to work towards delivering tangible high impact results for Nairobi residents. “We are here to work and serve the people of Nairobi. Let us focus not just on work but on results, and at the end of the day, we will all be happy to have contributed to the delivery of the Governor’s manifesto and service delivery to the people of Nairobi,” Ms. Wangũi said.
