Nairobi, 11th November 2021
Nairobi City County Deputy Governor and Acting Governor H. E Ann Kananu has today donated Kshs. 400,000 to the Kenya Inter- Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) team during the hand over of the county flag to the KICOSCA team.
The team consisting of 326 sports men and women departs for Embu County on Sunday to participate in the forthcoming intercounty games which will take place from 14th to 20th November 2021.
While addressing the participants outside city hall, Ms. Kananu lauded the team for their efforts and passion.
Ms. Kananu said she has confidence that the team which consists of young sports men and women who were recently recruited in fire and inspectorate departments would come back winners.
Said Ms. Kananu, ” I urge all the Nairobi County participants in KICOSCA to observe discipline while in Embu and be great ambassadors of our county. I expect you to work hard and together as team Nairobi and toward building a stronger sporting sector to bring glory to Nairobi which I believe will inspire and nurture those who come in future. I have confidence that this team will bring all the trophies home. I wish each and every one of you success. We look forward to welcoming you back home to celebrate your win in your respective disciplines.”
County Executive Committee Member in charge of Sports Ms. Janet Ouko thanked the team for their commitment and wished them well.
Present during the function was Westlands Member of Parliament Westlands Consitituency Hon. Timothy Wanyonyi, County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers and Directors, Nairobi County Sports Committee and Members of the County Assembly.
Nairobi County will be taking a team that will participate in 22 sports disciplines including; volley ball, badminton, basketball, pool, handball, chess, football, choir and golf, ajua among others.
