Issuing of Executive Scholarship Bursaries at Macmillan Library

NAIROBI: 12 July 2024

The issuance of the Nairobi County Governor’s Executive Scholarship Bursaries began today in earnest for students who after vetting by the bursary education committee were eligible for bursary. The Governors Scholarship program is an initiative by H.E. Governor Sakaja Johnson to the bright but needy students from public schools in Nairobi. The program caters for the 4 year period a student is in high school

Chief Officer for Early Childhood Development and Vocational Training Ahmed Abdi together with Director Education Ruth Owuor lead the team of Education Officers in the process.

Mr. Abdi while addressing parents said we reaffirm our dedication to this noble cause by H.E. the Governor of awarding scholarships to needy Nairobi students to Nairobi’s most promising young minds.

These bursaries are not just a financial support system; they are a testament to our belief in the power of education to transform lives. They represent our faith in the abilities and potential of our youth, providing them with the opportunities they need to thrive and succeed. Each scholarship awarded is an investment in the future of Nairobi, in the future of Kenya, and in the future of our world.

Director for Education Ruth Awour said “We have selected these students for their academic excellence, their determination, resilience, and commitment to making a difference in their communities. They have shown us that with the right support, they can overcome any obstacle and achieve greatness. They are our future leaders, innovators, and change-makers.

The Chief Officer said education is a collective responsibility. It requires the concerted efforts of government, educators, parents, and the community. , we can create an environment where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential. He said Nairobi County will continue to support and invest in our youth, for they are the architects of our future.

Parents present expressed their gratitude to Governor Sakaja and the County for the commitment to ensuring the needy in the society are not left behind, they said his eagerness to nurturing and shaping the future generation is commendable, and the impact cannot be overstated.
