The Governor of Nairobi H. E. Mike Mbuvi Sonko received Milan Pact award on Urban Early Warning and Early Action Tool for detecting food insecurity .This happened in Montpelier, France during the ongoing 5th Annual Gathering and Mayors Summit.
Nairobi City entered the award competition in June 2019 and was declared the winner in Social and Economic Equity category of the Milan Pact.
The City signed Milan Pact in 2016 and it’s geared towards developing sustainable food systems that are inclusive, resilient, safe and diverse.
The Governor is accompanied by County staff from Food and Agriculture Sector – County Executive Member Pauline Kahiga – Waititu, County Chief Officers Ann Mwenda and Winfred Katumo and the Sector Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.
Over 100 best practices were submitted for competition this year.
