Nairobi City County Executive Committee Member for Green Nairobi Mr. Ibrahim Auma spent the day yesterday interacting with green army teams in Kibra, Dagoretti South and Embakasi West Sub Counties.
His visit was intended to mark Customer Service week by getting in touch with his green army staff on the ground, as a way of encouraging and showing them support as they deliver on H.E Governor Sakaja’s vision for a cleaner City.
The green army teams have been on the ground carrying out clean ups and unclogging blocked drainages across the city.
In Kariobangi South, Embakasi West Sub County, Mr. Auma inspected the ongoing unclogging of Malaria drain that runs through Umoja 1, Mowlem and Kariobangi South.
Mr. Auma warned that those involved in illegal dumping and discharging of raw sewer into drains will be prosecuted.
He also promised that enforcement will be beefed up in all dumping hotspot and other areas in order to discourage illegal dumping.
As he interacted with different teams, he also got to hear the emerging issues which he promised to address in order to make their working condition favourable.
” I’m impressed by the remarkable work done by our green army team in cleaning the City. I thank H.E Governor Sakaja for recruiting energetic and youthful workforce who are passionate in making Nairobi clean.” Said Mr. Auma.
The green army team expressed gratitude for the County Executive’s visit, noting that they felt motivated and appreciated.
In Dagoretti South, along Ngong road, the County Executive instructed removal of all structures encroaching on the footpath. He directed the enforcement team to issue a notice to the structure owners to remove them failure to which they will be demolished.
Mr. Auma promised to provide machinery required in clearing Ngong road and its beautification.
