Nairobi City County Governor H.E Sakaja Johnson has today flagged off Kenya Inter- Counties Sports and Cultural Associations (KICOSCA) team set to participate in the forthcoming inter-county games taking place from 15th to 21st January in Kisumu County.
The team will participate in several sports disciplines including; volley ball, badminton, basketball, pool, handball, chess, football, golf, ajua and choir among others.
The Governor called on the sports men and women to observe discipline while in Kisumu and be his good ambassadors.
Governor Sakaja noted that sports is extremely an important economic frontier. He assured the team of his full support and promised them that they will be fully facilitated.
Said the Governor,” I’m very proud of this team. I expect nothing but a win from you. We have always been emerging top and we cannot go beyond the set standards. I promise you a gift upon your victory.”
Governor Sakaja said that his government is keen on bringing back the lost glory in sports. He promised that City Stadium and all other sports facilities in the city will be worked on.
Deputy Governor H.E Njoroge Muchiri said that sports inculcate very good leadership skills and acts as a very good training ground for leadership. He wished the team well and encouraged them to do their best.
County Executive in charge of Talents, Skill Development & Care sector Mr. Brian Mulama assured that the team is well prepared and going out for nothing less but victory.
Chief Officer for Youth, Talent & Sports Mr. Oscar Igaida urged the Sports team to observe discipline adding that discipline is paramount. He also wished the team well.
The Governor was accompanied by Ag. County Secretary Dr. Jairus Musumba, County Executives, Chief Officers, Directors and other officers from Talents Sector.
