Nairobi, 8th December, 2022
Nairobi City County’s new Executive Committee Members have today been sworn in at City Hall witnessed by Governor Sakaja Johnson.
This followed the dismissal last week of a court case that had placed an injunction stopping their vetting and assumption of office.
The CECMs faced the Nairobi County Assembly’s Appointment Committee on Tuesday for vetting. The committee prepared its report yesterday which was tabled and adopted today in the afternoon.
Also present at the swearing in were Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri, Assembly Speaker Kenneth Ngondi, Majority Leader Peter Imwatok, Minority Leader Anthony Kiragu and several MCAs.
Addressing the newly sworn in County Executives, Governor Sakaja advised them to work diligently and deliver for the people of Nairobi. “I and the people of Nairobi have a lot of faith in you. We expect you to work day and night because going forward the people of Nairobi will hold you to accountable.”
Governor Sakaja thanked the County Assembly for its cooperation and said Nairobi County Government would achieve its targets through collaboration and continued unity.
