The Nairobi City County Governor, H.E. Johnson Sakaja, has announced a 30-day penalty waiver to encourage Nairobi residents to clear outstanding rates and boost County revenue collection before enforcement measures are implemented.
Chairing a roundtable meeting with Sub County Administrators, County Chief Officers from Finance, Mobility, Boroughs and Administration, Smart Nairobi, Environment and Works Sectors, the Governor commended the team for their hard work despite the prevailing circumstances and promised to address their grievances, including training, running imprest, motor vehicle fuel, etc., to ensure efficient service delivery.
Sakaja stated, “Irrespective of Sector, the Sub County Administrators are in charge of what happens in their respective areas of jurisdiction, and it is necessary that every Sub County Sector head reports to the Sub County Administrators. I promise to shield this team from political interference in our quest to fulfill our mandate of making Nairobi a City of Order, Dignity, Hope, and Opportunities.”
The Governor also pledged to initiate the construction and rehabilitation of grassroots offices within the next year to ensure all Sub County employees have a place to carry out their duties.
Also present at the meeting were the County Secretary, Mr. Patrick Analo, the Executive Member for Boroughs, Administration and Personnel, Mr. Patrick Mbogo, the Chief Officer Governor’s Office, Ms. Priscillah Mahinda, and the County Chief Of Staff, Mr. David Njoroge.
