Nairobi City County Governor H. E Ann Kananu this morning received a total of 22 trophies from the Nairobi County team who participated in the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games held in Embu County last year.
Nairobi County emerged the overall winners out of 47 Counties represented. Nairobi sent a contingent of 350 athletes to Embu.
The Governor expressed her gratitude to the team for the sacrifices they made despite the hard times of covid-19 pandemic to emerge winners in different categories.
Said Ms. Kananu, “I’m a very proud Governor as I receive these trophies today.”
The Governor urged the sports leadership to have a succession plan by incorporating and training the newly employed youths to the team. She also encouraged them to remain disciplined.
Governor Kananu voiced her bid to contest for Nairobi gubernatorial post and promised to deliver for Nairobi residents once elected.
The County Executive Committee Member in charge of Sports Ms. Janet Ouko thanked H.E Ann Kananu for supporting the team. Said Ms. Ouko, “We have experienced the support of our Governor. This program is meant to motivate staff because happy staff is key in any organization.”
Out of 350 KICOSCA participants from Nairobi County,90 of them have been selected to represent Kenya in East African Local Authority Games this year in Uasin Gishu County.
The overall winners team trophy was presented to Governor Kananu by the overall team captains Fred Bosire and Irene Chepchumba. Governor Kananu was accompanied by her County Executive members, MCAs and senior County staff members.
