County Executive Committee Member for Innovation and Digital Economy, Michael Gumo today joined Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy (IC-DE), Eliud Owalo at the launch of free WiFi service at Kenyatta Market to facilitate e-commerce.
Said Gumo ” In line with National Governments’ agenda in transforming traditional businesses to digital enterprises, Nairobi City County Government also has a platform, Nairobi Pay which is an electronic system that makes it easy to make payment for service in Nairobi County”.
Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo said that the Government intends to install a total of 25,000 Internet hot spots countrywide to help micro and small businesses digitize their operations by giving them free Internet and support to build essential skills for businesses in the Worldwide Web.
In attendance was Chief Officer ICT and Infrastructure, John Lintari, Member of County Assembly Woodley/ Kenyatta Golf Course Ward Davidson Ngibuini, Chairman ICT Authority Board, Professor Fredrick Owino, Chief Executive Authority ICT, Stanley Kamanguya among others.
