Education Innovation Summit 2023 Comes To a Close

Nairobi City County Executive for Talent, Skills Development and Care Rosemary Kariuki was among the panelist who attended the just concluded Education Innovation Summit 2023 held at The Kenya National Museums.

Speaking during the closing ceremony the County Executive said “This summit serves as a crucible for innovation, where educators, policymakers, and visionaries converge to forge a path toward a more dynamic and inclusive educational landscape. We are witnessing a paradigm shift, where traditional boundaries are being dismantled, and the seeds of creativity are sprouting in the fertile ground of collaboration. It is with great enthusiasm that we gather for the Education Innovation Summit, a beacon of transformative ideas shaping the future of learning. In a rapidly evolving world, education must not only keep pace but lead the way.”
Edusummit11“As we strive for a progressive and inclusive Education system, it’s imperative to access the efficacy of various educational approaches. Today I’d like to discuss competency based Education (CBC) and its impact on our leaners learning journey. CBC offers a paradigm shifts from traditional methods, focusing on mastery of specific skills, knowledge and attitudes. The progress allows student to progress at their own pace, emphasizing a deeper understanding of subjects. It promotes personalized learning experience tailored to an individual leaner needs and potential fostering a more inclusive and adaptable educational environment.” Said Ms. Kariuki.

She reiterated that despite the challenges faced in the implementation of CBC Nairobi City County Government has taken proactive measures. As a county we have:

disbursed Kshs.100M free ECD funds to all pre-primary schools, each child receives Kshs 3200 and learners who are abled differently receive receives Kshs 3300. We have disbursed Kshs 1.025billion bursaries and scholarship to needy but bright students. 2500 children are receiving meals from Dishi na County school feeding program from the 10 mega kitchens constructed by the County Government.
Edusummit8She added that the County Conducts Quality Assurance in our ECD Centres termly. Has so far Supplied 330,00 packet milk to improve nutrition, ECDE learners have participated in 3 co-curricular activities to national level, Kisumu, Mombasa and Nyeri state concert, acquiring best film production among many others.
