The County Government today brought stakeholders to a round table in a kick off meeting for implementation of the Agreed Action Plan with the UN-Habitat. The meeting brought together Lead Experts from the UN-Habitat, Nominated NCCG technical leads for the respective areas of cooperation and the Nairobi Rivers Commission.
The kick off meeting was graced by the UN Habitat Regional Director Oumar Sylla, H. E Governor Sakaja’s Advisor on Finance Dr. Stephen Gachie, The CEO Nairobi Rivers Commission Brig. Muracia and the technical teams from UN Habitat and NCCG.
The teams agreed on a roadmap for conceptualization of agreed initiatives and co-creation of the joint Work Plan for the program roll out.
The initiatives agreed on include: Global SDG Cities Initiative, Safer Cities, Nairobi Rivers Regeneration, Urban Mobility, Solid Waste Management, Water and Sanitation for Schools and the Nairobi Place making Week.

While thanking the Un Habitat, Director for Donor Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement expressed NCCG’s commitment to creating an enabling framework for a safe, liveable, resilient and sustainable City. He noted that the County’s Vision of Order, Dignity, Hope and Opportunity blends will with the New Urban Agenda that the UN is working towards for Cities.
