Mombasa, 1st July, 2021
Nairobi City County Assembly Sectoral Committee on Information, Communication Technology (ICT)& e Government and Energy commenced a four day joint meeting with the sector Executive, Chief Officer, Directors and officers in Mombasa to review the status report on the implementation of key ICT &e Government projects as well as priorities for the financial year 2020/21.
Said the Sectors County Executive, Mr. Newton Munene, “This is a very constructive engagement with the committee. ICT &e Government committee has been very supportive in terms of budget support and we hope to accomplish all the planned projects for the next financial year 2021/2022.
Speaking at the same event the chair Sectoral Committee on ICT and e-Government and Energy Hon. Elizabeth Nyambura said that the committee was impressed with the sector accomplishment. Said Hon. Nyambura,”We hope to continue having good mutual relationship with the Executive wing in our mandate of legislative, oversight and presentation role.”
Some of the major achievements highlighted during the meeting are; acquisition of primary internet service provider which provides internet access to the county offices in City Hall, City Hall annex and some of the satellite offices, acquisition of the integrated county revenue management system ( ICMS), replacement of the aging and limited network and data Centre infrastructure, acquisition of the LAIFOMS maintenance and support to enhance revenue collection, development of an email messaging with unlimited users, functioning interactive county website and establishment of County Staff Lab.
The directorates represented include; eLearning and Public Communication.
