CITY STADIUM RENOVATIONS AS PER 11TH SEPTEMBER 2019.

The rehabilitation of city stadium is on track and taking off at a good start. A visit to the stadium by the County Executive Committee Member for Education,Sports,Culture,Youth and Social Services Mrs.Lucia Mulwa was accompanied by the County Chief Officer sports and Youth together with the Director of Sports and Youths.
The visit saw remarkable progress in the reconstruction process.

Special thanks to the county Assembly for having approved plans for the reconstruction as well as allocation of funds to facilitate the process.Rehabilitation of City Stadium is underway to ensure the historic stadium is upgraded to the required standards.

Earlier on in 2016, the stadium had been shut down by the Stadia Safety and Security Committee for not meeting the minimum standards hence unable to host league matches. The artificial turf covering the main grounds was worn out due to poor maintenance, the washrooms and dressing rooms were in pathetic condition and there was no running water in the stadium.

Early this September, renovation of the renowned stadium is 20% complete with constructions underway. The renovation of the stadium will take place in phases and the first phase is already underway.
Refurbishing of the terraces is undergoing a complete makeover to give it a smooth look.

Washrooms

The washrooms and the changing rooms are also being repaired to accommodate the home teams as well as the visiting teams. In addition to the repairs, People living with disabilities are also factored in such that they will be given means of getting around the stadium with ease.

Vipcity Stadium

The VIP area is also being refurbished to accommodate more personnel and the dais as well.

The next phase will involve repairs to the present artificial turf in the main grounds as well as installation of running tracks round the stadium to attract track events and sports. This will boost the image of the stadium as well as return its former glory and status.
