Special thanks to the county Assembly for having approved plans for the reconstruction as well as allocation of funds to facilitate the process.Rehabilitation of City Stadium is underway to ensure the historic stadium is upgraded to the required standards.

Earlier on in 2016, the stadium had been shut down by the Stadia Safety and Security Committee for not meeting the minimum standards hence unable to host league matches. The artificial turf covering the main grounds was worn out due to poor maintenance, the washrooms and dressing rooms were in pathetic condition and there was no running water in the stadium.

Early this September, renovation of the renowned stadium is 20% complete with constructions underway. The renovation of the stadium will take place in phases and the first phase is already underway.
Refurbishing of the terraces is undergoing a complete makeover to give it a smooth look.

The washrooms and the changing rooms are also being repaired to accommodate the home teams as well as the visiting teams. In addition to the repairs, People living with disabilities are also factored in such that they will be given means of getting around the stadium with ease.
