Nairobi City County Governor H.E Sakaja Johnson has today ordered for the release of all detained patients in Nairobi City County hospitals due to non payment of hospital bills.
Governor Sakaja pledged to clear all the bills on their behalf so that they can go and celebrate Christmas with their families.
The Governor Sakaja was speaking during “The Governors’ Christmas Tree lighting at City Hall; an event held annually by the Nairobi City County Government..
Governor Sakaja also donated Kes1M in addition to the donations made by Nairobi County Government Staff and several donors and partners. The amounts collected will go towards putting a smile on the less fortunate during this festive season.
The County boss urged Nairobians to be givers and remember the less fortunate. He quoted the Bible verse in James 1:27 which encourages caring and giving those who are under privileged.
Said the Governor,” Let us love one another, let us be considerate and kind people, let us be our brothers keeper. When you give you become a co-worker with God and the more you give the more you receive.”
Th Governor thanked all the County staff and donors who donated towards helping the needy. He continued, “I appeal to Nairobi residents to think about their neighbours and the less fortunate during this Christmas. Just spare something small for them and God will bless you.”
Deputy Governor H.E Njoroge Muchiri said that Christmas was a time to show love, brotherhood and unity as well as remembering the less fortunate. H.E Njoroge called upon Nairobians to remember the less privileged at all times and not only during Christmas period.
Present during the event were Members of Nairobi County Assembly representatives, Finance Executive Charles Kerich, Acting County Chief Officers Elizabeth Njau and Patrick Analo, several Directors, Governor’s advisers, Sub County Administrators and County staff members.
