The Business and Hustlers Opportunities hosted a strategic deliberation to formulate a unified work plan for the rollout of the Biashara Stimulus Programme, one of Governor Sakaja Johnsons flagships programme.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri said that the programme was a critical achievement in the duos campaign promises. “Our campaign manifesto was based on ensuring that indigenous Micro and Small Enterprises who ordinarily would not qualify for credit from the formal financial institutions would be beneficiaries of this programme. The credit received from Kenya Commercial Bank would stimulate already existing businesses and scale them from micro and Small Enterprises to medium enterprises.”
Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri emphasized that the programme success would depend on the trust built over time by the county and partners with the target beneficiaries.
Said Dr. Nyalita “This session provided a platform and an opportunity for our key partners and stakeholders, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and the Institute of Certified Start and Improve Your Business (ICST-SIYB) to collaboratively design a unified plan for program roll out, implementation and monitoring.”
The Biashara stimulus program will be implemented in 17 sub counties and 85 wards in Nairobi. “The program is designed to stimulate business growth, promote job creation, and enhance the county’s socio-economic development through targeted interventions.” Said Godfrey Akumali, Business and Hustler Opportunities, Chief Officer and Ag. County Secretary.
The Bashara stimulus program is Governor Sakaja Johnson’s flagship program and empowerment initiative and will provide financial, technical, and market access support to Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) within Nairobi County.
“The sector is excited to soon launch a programme that will provide support to Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) through Strategic Partnerships by revamping existing businesses in Nairobi by increasing access to affordable finance by subsidizing the cost of credit to a single digit interest rate and enhancing entrepreneurial capacity and market linkages.” Said Julius Karina, Director, MSEs.
In attendance was Eunice Kariuki, Director, Governors Delivery Unit, Kepha Omanga, Director Donor,
Joshua Kimeu, Director, Debt Management and Stakeholder, Kenya Commercial Bank( KCB), and the Institute of Certified Start and Improve Your Business(SIYB).
