The acting Nairobi City County Governor Benson Mutura has carried out his first cabinet reshuffle since assuming office after the impeachment of Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
The county executive committee member for Education, Youth, Sports, Gender Affairs, Culture and Social Services Ms. Lucia Mulwa was moved on the same capacity to Food, Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries Sector.
The governor re-appointed Ms. Janet Ouko to head Education, Youth, Sports, Gender Affairs, Culture and Social Services sector. She had earlier exited the county during Sonko’s tenure.
Jairus Musumba has been appointed as the acting county secretary replacing Justus Kathenge who was the acting County Secretary. He now goes back to being the county’s chief officer for Urban Planning.
Paul Mutungi has been appointed as Chief of Staff. Mutungi was former councillor for Mbotela Ward.He replaces Brian Kamau Mugo.
Activist Brian Weke who is a lawyer and a Human rights defender including women and children and former Makadara parliamentary aspirant, has been appointed as the Legal Advisor in the Office of the Governor.
The Trade, tourism and cooperative development sector however, remains with no substantive CECM with CECM for Finance Allan Igambi acting in the position.
The rest of the CECMs remain in their substantive positions with Hitan Majevdia (Health Services),Charles Kerich (Lands, urban planning and Urban renewal), Allan Igambi (Finance and Economic development), Newton Munene (ICT&E-Government), Larry Wambua (Environment), Vesca Kagongo (Public Service) and Mohammed Ahmed Dagane (Roads,Public works and Transport).
Governor Mutura promised to make more realignments as he thanked those who had been in office.
