Nairobi, 10th August, 2023
This morning Mr. Ahmed Abdi, Chief Officer for Early Childhood Development Education and Vocational Training flagged off a total of 187 ECDE learners who qualified to represent Nairobi County in the National Music Festivals finals, which will be held in Nyeri County from 10th-23rd August, 2023.
In July this year, Nairobi City County’s ECDE department participated in the Music festivals at both the Sub County and Regional levels, where learners competed against over 2000 learners from Public and private schools in Nairobi out of this, a total of 187 learners qualified for this year’s national finals.
Speaking during the flagging off Mr. Ahmed said “I am very proud to have these little ones go this far, and I believe team Nairobi will conquer all, Let’s ensure we bring the the trophy to Nairobi. I take this opportunity to thank our teachers accompanying the children to Nyeri and appreciate the sacrifices they have made to see our children succeed in these activities. As a county, we do not take it for granted, I urge you to take good care of the children’s welfare.”
The Director Education Ms. Ruth Owuor, who accompanied the Chief Officer said ”We are very proud of our ECDE learners who are going to represent our County in different categories, Indian Songs, African singing games, Western singing games, Poems and Mashairi, Solos and Chorals. We intend to bring the title home. We will continue engaging in these events that provide a platform for nurturing and developing talent from this early age. We have realized that one can make a career out of drama and arts. We will therefore push out learners to embrace these activities because the sky is the limit.”
The culmination will be the presidential gala that will be held at State lodge, Sagana in Nyeri County.
