Sonko picks 10 County Executive Committee Members for vetting

Governor Mike Sonko 5th October 2017 submitted names of ten persons for vetting and approval by the County Assembly.

In a communication to the Speaker of the Nairobi City County Assembly Beatrice Elachi, Governor Sonko handed over the names of the ten persons who are set to take the County Executive Committee Member's (CECMs) dockets.

Governor Sonko has proposed Ms Veska Jepkemboi Kangogo as the CECM in the key Finance & Economic Planning docket and  Mr Larry Wambua as CECM for Devolution, Public Service & Administration.

Among other nominees is Arch. Peter Wachira Njuguna,  Lands, Urban Renewal &Housing. Dr Hitan Chhagan Majevda, Health, Mr Allan Igambi Esabwa, Commerce, Tourism & Cooperatives, Ms Emmah Mukuhi Muthoni, Environment, Water, Energy & Natural Resources and  Mr Danvas Makori, Agriculture, Livestock Development, Fisheries &Forestry.

Governor Sonko also submitted the names of Ms Janet Ouko and Mr Charles Kerich to take reign in the sectors of Education, Youth Gender, Sports. Culture & Social Services and ICT & E-Government respectively.

The County boss also forwarded the name of  Mr.Saleh Abdullahi Bardad, Roads, Infrastructure and Transport for vetting and approval by the County Assembly.

In a publication entitled " The problems of Nairobi County," Governor Sonko outlines five priority areas in which the new County Executive Committee Members will have to set their eyes on.  Sonko and his deputy Polycarp Igathe point out Population, Health, Traffic Congestion, Water and Sewerage and Doing Business in Nairobi as the major challenges that his administration will address to bring back the city to its toes.
