POLIO VACCINATION DRIVE - NAIROBI COUNTY
On 6th April 2018,a Polio Virus Type 2 was isolated from a sample in Kamukunji Sub-County in Nairobi County. Polio Virus Type 2 can be infectious to humans and has the capacity to cause paralysis in un-protected (un-immunized) persons.
In response to the case in Kamukunji ,Nairobi City County Health Services in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, Office of the Director of Medical Services have organized a vaccination campaign from 9th to 12th May 2018,in Nairobi County.
The vaccination drive targets children aged 5years and below and health personnel will move from house to house ,one location to another administering the vaccine.
This is therefore to call upon all members of public to allow and support the health personnel team charged with the responsibility of administering the vaccine, carry out the exercise with ease. The vaccine will be given orally (by mouth)
