Leather tooling facility to be constructed in Kariokor.

Nairobi City County Government in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives today held a leather project stakeholders meeting at Kariokor Social Hall to deliberate on the site for the construction of a Common Leather tooling facility.
"The aim of this project is to improve quality and competitiveness of leather products manufactured at Kariokor for both local and international markets". Said Mr Allan Igambi, the CEC for Commerce, Tourism and Cooperatives.
Leather tooling plant is one of the industrial transformation programme identified by the national government with an aim of job and wealth creation. Kariokor market was earmarked for establishing the leather tooling centre due to the numerous industries in the area.
Kariokor market is the only market producing mass production of leather assorted products and consumes more than 85% of leather produced in the country.
The meeting was attended by Allan Igambi - CECM Commerce, Tourism and Cooperatives, Hon. Charles Thuo Chairman, County Assembly Trade Committee, Representative- Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives, Hon. Millicent Mugadi - Karioko MCA, County Director of Trade - Elizabeth Njau among others.
