Nairobi City County Government asks court orders KRA to reverse payment erroneously made

Nairobi, 15th May, 2017 - Nairobi City County Government has today  15th May, 2017  requested the court to order Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to reverse Ksh 1.7B which was erroneously transferred directly by Central Bank to KRA within 24hrs.
Nairobi County Attorney Prof. Tom Ojienda also requested for the committal to civil jail of the Directors of Central Bank and Kenya Revenue Authority who made the transactions despite an existing court order barring such a move.
Lawyer Ojienda said,  "In disobedience of the court order made for City Hall, KRA transferred salary of Nairobi City County employees for the month of April hence we are looking for alternative ways to pay them."
The County Government pays a total of Kes 1.3B monthly for their 13,000 workers.  Ojienda also noted that the County employees will go on strike on the 16th May 2017 . The ruling will be made on the 17th May,  2017 at 1430hrs.
