Nairobi sails to the final of County KICOSCA football

Nairobi City County football team sailed to the final of the most prestigious discipline of KICOSCA games 2017 after narrowly beating Kisumu County in a penalty shootout.

The two teams drew 1-1 after the ninety minutes final whistle, pushing the match to penalties.

Kisumu team coached by Dominic Mwalo scored their first goal through striker Tobias Onyango in the 38th minute of the 1st half. The "Nyong'o" boys continued to dictate the pace, virtually rocking "Sonko team" out of the match. It was during the dying.minutes of the match that Coach George Sunguti made a technical gamble by withdrawing Alex Mwangi "Mwango" from the goal, assigning him a role of a striker in an effort to redeem the situation. Indeed, the gamble paid off in the 98th minute when "Mwango"  pulled a classy shot which caught the Kisumu goalkeeper napping.

The winner was later decided through penalties. Nairobi side scored through Alex Mwangi, Vincent Otieno, William Oloo.and Wilfred Mandala. Kisumu sports kicks were taken by Loise Onyango,  Chris Othora and Andrew Alako. Nairobi won 5-3.

In the second semi-final, Machakos "Chap Chap" lads of Governor Alfred Mutua thrashed Busia County 4-1 in an entertaining encounter at the Machakos Teacher's Training College. In the 7th minute, Busia Moses Opelechi stunned Mutua boys through a grass cutting strike. However, Boniface Nzomo in the 16th minute levelled the score. In the 46th minute, Antony Mutisya scored the second goal for Machakos. Busia team coached by Mr Alfred Onyango game's plan was frustrated when his formidable striker, Antony Makane was red carded in the 75th minute. Coach Daniel Munyasia of Machakos was all smells when they got their 3rd and 4th goals through Antony Mutisya and Antony Mulu in the 81st and 83rd minute, paving way for their first finals in the history of KIKOSCA.
