Nairobi retains the KICOSCA overall title

As the KICOSCA games curtains came to a close, Nairobi City County emerged the overall winner of County KICOSCA 2017 games held at Machakos County by garnering nine gold and three silver medals.

 

The Nairobi County team led by the newly appointed County Executive Committee Member Education, Sports and Social Services Ms Janet Ouko triumphantly celebrated the win by taking a victory lap at the Machakos Stadium during the closing ceremony.  The dancing County team braved the heavy downpour to celebrate the victory in a ceremony attended by hundreds of members from 47 counties.

Nakuru and Kisumu counties finished in second and third positions
Nairobi City County Assembly was also crowned as the best overall County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) followed by Kericho and Kisumu County assemblies in second and third positions respectively.

 

The County Education, Sports and Social Services boss who was accompanied by her  Ag. County Chief Officer Ms Ruth Owour said she was elated by the good performance by the County team.  She added, "On behalf of my boss, Governor Mike Sonko, I thank you all for representing the County and defending our title. The County will continue to invest in sports by putting in place the necessary facilities to ensure that the gains are not reversed."
