Makadara school gets a facelift

The County Government in partnership with Government of Israel 12th March, 2017 gave the Star of Hope Primary School of Makadara Sub County a new lease of life after the commissioning of a library, green house and ablution block.

It was song and dance by the school community as the Ambassador of State of Israel in Kenya HE. Yaheal Vilan in honor of 69th Israel's independence anniversary commissioned the facilities set to benefit 1600 pupils.

HE ambassador  praised the cordial  working relationship between the two countries and expressed his gratitude to the county's government for its desire to improve schools by putting up facilities and structures.

The County Government was represented by the County' s Sub County Administration boss Dr John Ntoiti who was accompanied by  Makadara Sub County Administrator Ms Susan Onanga.

Dr Ntoiti said," The County Government continues to seek partnership from all stakeholders to ensure that the learning environment in schools is favorable to motivate pupils to perform well."  He said that it is under that realization that  the Governor Dr Evans Kidero spearheaded the construction of 172 classrooms in over 20 schools; among them, Olympic, Marurui, Mathare and Kariobangi primary schools.

Thanking the Ambassador, Ms Onanga said that the new facilities are going to improve sanitation standards and attract new learners in the school.

The school which is at the heart of Viwandani Ward is largely attended by pupils drawn from informal settlements like Sinai, Mukuru kwa Njenga  and its environs.
